  • Overview

    The Revenue Accounting department is responsible for reviewing customer contracts for proper revenue accounting treatment, making recommendations on revenue recognition strategies, determining treatment of multi-element deliverables and general accounting functions such as journal entries, month-end close, revenue allocations and monthly/quarterly audits. The Revenue Manager will work with other departments to manage projects as they come up which could include future acqusitions, process improvements, and implementations. Quest Software is implementing ASC 606 on February 1, 2019. The role will assist with the implementation through testing a system implementation and transaction testing.


    The Revenue Manager will be responsible for ensuring revenue recognition compliance with U.S. GAAP and timely completion of all revenue deliverables for the EMEA and APJ regions. The Revenue Manager will be responsible for managing the team to timely completion of close activities each month including deal reviews, account reconciliations, close journal entries, and reporting. Additional responsibilities to include, but not limited to the following.

    • Project Management of process improvements, system implementations, and ad hoc projects as they come up
    • Responsiblity for proper revenue accounting and revenue deliverables for EMEA and APJ regions
    • Provide timely feedback and coaching to improve team and individual performance
    • Work with Sales Operations and Accounts Receivable to improve the quote to cash cycle
    • Work proactively and cross-functionally with the Contracts and Sales Operations teams to reduce the number of revenue/cost issues that result in non-standard processing of revenue transactions
    • Apply a strong work ethic to work in real time with business units on non-standard revenue transactions to ensure that relevant accounting issues are identified, resolved, and appropriately documented
    • Provide support to the business units in up-front structuring of transactions
    • Assist to develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and controls
    • Provide support and assistance in determining proper accounting for new products/services
    • Ensure the integrity of key processes by understanding systems, flow of transactions, internal controls and recommending efficiency and effectiveness improvements
    • Stay current on new revenue accounting rules and help develop appropriate policies and processes


    • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Accounting; Qualified Accountant ACA/ACCA or equivalent
    • 5 or more years of relevant accounting experience in industry and/or public accounting
    • 3 or more years of experience managing a team
    • Accounting experience in a software company especially as it relates to revenue (license, SaaS, support & maintenance, professional services)
    • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, especially in the area of revenue recognition
    • Excellent organization skills and detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple, competing tasks simultaneously
    • Experience with an Accounting ERP system, experience with Oracle and RevPro a plus
    • Excellent communications skills and the ability to develop effective working relationships within and across departments
    • Strong Excel skills and computer skills required
