  • Overview

    The Sr. Manager of User Experience will manage a global team of skilled UX designers/researchers working on a variety of strategic initiatives in the database software space. The UX Manager will motivate the team to high standards in user-centered design, customer focus, and data-informed decision making. This leader will have exceptional UX design and research skills with the distinct ability to champion UX concepts. Ultimately, the UX Manager knows what it takes to build products that delight and empower our customers, translate the complex into the simple, and guide the team to purposeful decision making.

    Responsibilities

    • Directs the efforts of team members to achieve the strategic and operational objectives of the User Experience department and the Information Management business unit
    • Develops team processes to ensure quality and consistency of end-to-end customer experience within and across products
    • Orchestrates the collection of qualitative and quantitative data to drive design decisions
    • Responsible for career development/planning, performance and pay discussions of team members
    • Provides authoritative advice based on deep subject matter expertise
    • Applies influence and negotiation skills to drive business results
    • Collaborates with key stakeholders, both internal and external
    • Serves as liaison to external contacts (customers and vendors)
    • Analyzes long-term impact of new or anticipated strategies and decisions
    • Leads teams to solve abstract problems without precedent
    • Diagnoses and resolves ambiguous problems
    • Leads rigorous process and service improvement programs

    Qualifications

    • Expert understanding of UX issues and principles as they are applied to the design and development process
    • Expert ability to define, execute, analyze, interpret, and/or sponsor research activities on product design, usage, and usability in laboratory or field settings using a broad range of quantitative and qualitative data collection techniques, and appropriately apply findings to drive product design in alignment with business strategy
    • Proven competence in agile, Lean UX, and Design Thinking
    • Expert ability to lead teams by further enabling areas of strength and growing areas of weakness 
    • Expert ability to identify potential product weakness and provide design guidance and recommendations to iteratively improve
    • Experience working with global/remote teams and building team unity and cohesion across geographic locations
    • 6+ years of experience as a UX practitioner
    • 4+ years of leadership experience
