  • Overview

    The individual in this position will be a Quest Data Protection product content specialist, and will use this knowledge base as well as knowledge collected from the field to develop training programs (i.e. – sales, presales, admin/implementation levels) for Quest partners, customers and employees.  This positin can be based remotely anywhere in the US.  

     

    The candidate selected for this role will have the opportunity to be creative in developing learning media, and will benefit from seeing the impact of learners enabled as a result of his/her work.  He/she will have the opportunity to work and gain visibility with many cross-functional areas in this role, including sales, presales, professional services, technical support, product management, product marketing, and R & D. The role allows one to also learn more Quest products, remain technical and work remotely.

    Responsibilities

    • Maintain Data Protection industry expertise by reading and staying current with industry trends.
    • Gather and maintain Quest Data Protection product expertise by reviewing product specific documents (e.g. – Release Requirements, Release Definitions, Messaging Briefs), doing self-study, working with beta software and working closely with product management and the lab.
    • Collect content from other internal Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and external resources as needed to create training content and overall learning objectives.
    • Manage curriculum development projects providing training deliverables on time, within budget and with business objectives met.
    • Develop/maintain training programs for Quest partners, customers and employees using various learning methods and strategies (traditional instructor-led, virtual instructor-led, web-based training, practical exams, job-aids, mobile learning, etc.), and following department standards.
    • Develop training and testing environment in a virtual infrastructure.
    • Forge strong relationships with the Product teams to stay current with product functionality, messaging and direction.
    • As needed, deliver train-the-trainer sessions to Quest employees that will further deliver the programs. If needed deliver an occasional instructor-led class, however this is not the key focus for this role.
    • Evaluate curricula based on interviews, surveys, and tests and modify programs based on results.
    • Ability to travel, as required (up to 10%, possible Sundays, possible domestic/international)
    • Perform other duties as required.

    Qualifications

    Requirements

    • 10+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience [technical role in Data Protection (backup/recovery, good understanding of storage, replication) such as professional services, tech support, presales, R & D, product management]
    • Experience with NetVault Backup software or comparable enterprise class data protection product.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Experience managing projects and the ability to handle multiple tasks/projects concurrently
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Extensive experience in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint
    • Ability to work autonomously without daily guidance

     

    Desired Skills

    • Experience with Quest Data Protection products other than NetVault Backup is desired (Rapid Recovery, QoreStor, QorePortal)
    • Degree in Information Technology strongly preferred
    • Experience in Instructional Design is a plus
    • Experience with creating content for software product training materials
    • Experience with Articulate, Camtasia, Audacity or other audio products, STT Trainer or other software simulation products
    • Experience with VMware or other virtualization software for creating training lab environments
    • Experience with delivering technical instruction
