Overview

The role of a Sales Engineer drives revenue through shortening the sales cycle by overcoming technical hurdles and providing technical sales leadership during the pre-sales phase of an opportunity for customers and partners. The position requires the ability to execute product demonstrations, architect and implement test pilots; whiteboard proposed solutions and explain the integration impact of Quest products to an existing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Complete immersion and mastery of Quest’s product offerings, business model, services, and emerging technologies
  • Deliver technical product presentations via web conferencing.
  • Provide product installations and custom product configurations remotely.
  • Work directly with the account management team to provide an understanding of what Quest can do for a business on a technical level through product demos, presentations and discovery calls.
  • Provide extraordinary assistance and guidance to our ever-growing customer base with your unsurpassed customer service and problem solving capabilities, You'll be communicating with companies of all sizes, from IT Administrators and Sales Managers to small business owners, articulating how Quest best fits their organization.
  • Provide outstanding phone, email, and chat based technical and account services to our potential customers in a fast-paced environment. Effectively present the technical benefits of the Quest solutions and show how these translate into business value to the customer and partner alike.
  • Attend marketing events with the channel partners and Quest.
  • Work closely with Quest channel partners to present the technical benefits of the Quest solutions for them and their customers.
  • Act as a technical expert on all the components of the Quest solutions and be primary technical point of contact with the client and partner during the pre-sales phase.
  • Work closely with the territory account executive to drive customer business and support the channel partner community.
  • Help train Inside Sales team on Data Protection & Monitoring Technologies
  • Work with Sales team to close new business by addressing prospects’ technical challenges
  • Enabling Account Executives for success and transforming them into Quest experts through training and support
  • Communicating with fellow team members (mentoring and asking questions) via instant messaging, email, phone, and face to face meetings
  • Collaborating with all levels of the Quest organization to develop best practices, connect prospects and clients with Product Managers and Marketing to further client success and Quest’s evolution as a market leader
  • Work directly with Product Management team as a liaison to accounts around technical product requirements.
  • Administrative responsibility by providing timely status reports to managers, effective use of CRM tools and active participation in account and opportunity planning.
  • Keep abreast of new competitive products or service offerings and be able to move quickly to neutralize potential impact on Quest objectives.
  • Proactively seek to expand technical knowledge and supplement skills through the use of books, manuals, web, certified training centers and classroom training.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years or equivalent experience in consulting or sales engineering – particularly in the areas of Data Protection and or Monitoring.
  • This role requires the ability to fully understand complex architectures and quickly identify possible gaps or opportunities for data protection or monitoring technologies.
  • Technical understanding of three or more of the following technologies; 

-Platforms: Windows, Solaris, Mac OSX, FreeBSD, AIX, HP-UX, Netware, Linux(RHEL, CentOS, Oracle, Ubuntu, SUSE or Debian)
-Virtualization: ESXi, vCenter, VMWare Workstation, Hyper-V, Xen, KVM or VirtualBox
-Applications: Exchange, SQL, SharePoint, Lotus Domino, AD,  
-Databases: MySQL, Oracle, DB2, Informix, PostgreSQL, SAP, Sybase, Teradata.
-Cloud: Azure, Amazon S3, Rackspace, any OpenStack provider
-Storage: Direct Attached Storage, Network Attached Storage and Storage Area Network.
