This key role in the IT Business Applications team is responsible for improving the current implementation/integration of Quest’s HR/Payroll systems and assist in future implementations of HR/Payroll related systems.   The business analyst will be expected to work collaboratively to continually improve the systems and processes we design, develop and implement for Quest employees.


The HR BSA will provide internal analysis to key areas of the business, and to the IT project management, development and testing organizations.  This role will participate in implementation and improvements to the HR/Payroll related applications, and fully meets the needs of our internal business customers.


Roles that this position will work closely with include the following:

  • IT Project Management Team – work very closely with the PMs who have responsibility for managing implementation projects.
  • IT Development & QA Teams – work closely with developers, development managers, testers and test managers when required.
  • Business Stakeholders – develop very close, trusting and open relationships with key business stakeholders and gain a deep understanding of business pains, requirements and processes.
  • Project Sponsors – periodically present information related to implementation projects to project sponsors.


The HR/Payroll Business Systems Analyst will be involved in most aspects of system and process implementation projects and must understand and be able to move easily from IT-centric to business-centric topics. 


  • Provide support for the FairSail production environment including any 3rd party integrations (Concur/Oracle). Log FairSail service requests as needed, working with HR Business Support team as necessary to resolve accordingly.
  • Help in identifying inefficiencies in the current business process and work to define and document the future state business processes.
  • Create process flows, document the solution design and identify system integration impacts.
  • Develop test cases to ensure solution designs meet the business requirements and function according to specification
  • Participate in major system implementations, upgrades and enhancements.
  • Working closely with assigned project managers, assist in managing IT and business expectations pertaining to projects and providing accountability for what is deployed
  • Anticipate implementation issues and take corrective action, escalating as needed, to resolve and meet commitments
  • Work closely with FairSail; ADP; iCIMS, and Quest Oracle resources.
  • Effectively communicate across teams and business areas
  • Develop and deliver training materials for new HR/Payroll technology releases for the business users.
  • Share in system administration responsibilities.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science or similar discipline, or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of software implementation consulting experience
  • 3+ years of experience using HR systems and processes (FairSail experience a plus)
  • 5+ years of industry experience in similar environment(s)
  • Energetic, motivated, and service-oriented
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with enterprise-level business process analysis, design and redesign
  • Excellent problem solving, interpersonal communication, and business analysis skills
  • Experience in and understanding of different software development life cycles (waterfall, agile) and contemporary software quality assurance processes
  • Experience working with distributed/remote teams
  • Ability to multi task and work on multiple projects simultaneously
