Systems Consultant/Presales Consultant (Data Protection)

The Systems Consultant is to provide technical support direct to customers and business partners in the area of Backup and Storage infrastructure. In particular, the key mission is to work with Account Managers to serve key customers with mission critical system running on Data Protection solutions.  

Candidates will currently be in a pre-sales role for a major vendor with in-depth experience and expertise in Backup and Storage infrastructure ie VMware, Dell/EMC, HP, IBM, Veritas, CommVault, Arcserve and Veeam.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Strong acumen in soliciting and understands customer business drivers / pain points for the project and is able to qualify opportunities with the Sales team
  • Relate the products and solutions we provide to true business value for our clients and how their pain points are being addressed
  • Develop and deliver compelling product presentations, demonstrations and proof of concepts
  • Work with Sales Team in prequalifying the opportunities, technical requirements, and handling customer’s presentation and clarifications
  • Work with Sales Team on the solutions proposal based on client’s RFQ/RFP
  • Ensure that technical specification are met within the engagement process and tender process
  • Assist with Sales Team on product updates, liaising with 3rd parties on potential product integration with existing solutions
  • Research and disseminate information to the sales team with respect to the solutions we provide and the markets we operate within.
  • Consult and design appropriate solutions according to customer requirement
  • Establish and maintain relationships with clients, prospects and partners (VADs, Resellers, Focused Partners and SI’s).
  • Agile and adaptive in terms of technology focus to align with emerging trends and market demands
  • Willing to learn new technologies and enthusiastic to stay ‘relevant’
  • Technical support responsibilities may include telephone, documentation, and technical research support. Development of training materials and programs, competitive information, documentation, and presentation materials.
  • Provide documented technical responses to customer and partner requests.
  • Work with other departments including, but not limited to, technical support, development, marketing, Professional Services organisation etc. Support of the Marketing department at industry trade shows and user groups may be required.  The support generally involves providing product demonstrations and presentation for individuals and groups.
  • Onsite support may include, but not be limited to product installation or toruble shooting at customer sites.
  • Product demonstration/presentation at customer sites:-
    • Proof of concepts
    • Technical training
    • Enablement and Support Channel Partners on technical matters related to Quest DP & KACE solution


Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum 6 years of experience working with at least one of the following backup & De-dupe solutions : NetVault, vRanger, ArcServe, NetBackup, Veritas Backup Exec, Tivoli Storage Manager, Veeam, CommVault and
  • Primary Domain knowledge in Data Protection practices, especially around backup & restore, de-dupe and virtualized storage.
  • Good understanding of various Operating & Hypervisor Systems such as Windows Servers, SQL Servers, Windows desktops, VMWare, Hyper-V, OpenStack & Unix
  • Good understanding of hardware related to Data Protection such as Tape Libraries, various tape formats, Compression, backup media, SAN, NAS etc.  God understanding of Windows desktop operating systems such as PXE boot, Imaging, Bare Metal Installations etc.
  • A good understanding of Security implementations around Data Protection
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to understand a business problem and provide a solution.
  • Ability to manage technical aspects of accounts and opportunities
  • Able to interact with various levels within customer and partner organization from CxO, Middle Management and technical levels of people.
  • Right attitude and constantly updated on new technologies around Quest business such as Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, AliCloud etc.)
