Sales Engineer (Data Protection)
Field based Sales Engineer with strong experience in Data Protection, provides pre-sales technical support to sales specialists and account teams during the sales process. Accountable for the technical validity and interoperability of the solution and the direct relationship with the partner’s strategic business plans. Ideally, the candidate should have a strong IT infrastructure, software, networking and security background with detailed technical skills.
-This position defines the overall Quest solution for the customer and makes presentations on all aspects of the products and services focused in a specific US region.
-Assists the sales staff in assessing potential application of Quest Data Protection products and services to meet customer needs.
-Prepares detailed product specifications for the purpose of selling high-end product and solutions.
-Conducts customer needs analysis.
-Provides project scoping.
-Coordinates internal specialists and inter-department activities.
-Assists sellers in creating demand for product.
-Requires a high degree of technical competency to respond to customer and partner needs and to discuss product capabilities and applications with technical users/buyers.
-Customarily and regularly engaged at client and partner facilities, delivers high impact presentations leveraging strong technical skills.
-Conducts Quest Data Protection training programs to selected channel partners.
-Provides technical expertise to channel partners in positioning products and services applications and solutions leveraging on Quest Data Protection products.
-Supports the selections and facilitates startup of new strategic partners focused on Quest and Quest Data Protection products.
-Transfer to the partner Quest’s value proposition in the Data Protection domain.
-Serves as thought leader and company subject matter expert on Data Protection programs and activities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Excellent understanding of the Data Protection space, including Quest NetVault & Rapid Recovery, Symantec, CommVault, Dell/EMC, VEEAM, etc.
-Strong problem-solving skills are essential.
-ITIL knowledge is a plus
-Good understanding of supporting technologies such as client and server platforms, OS, Networking and Security.
-Experience with both Windows and Linux environments.
-Excellent communication (written/verbal) skills.
Education and Experience:
-Undergraduate degree and 8-10 years relevant experience or Graduate degree and 6-8 years relevant experience.
-Experience in Data Protection industry and preferably also in areas of Systems Monitoring and or Systems Management.
