The Director of Purchasing manages all organizational purchasing activities, ensuring the efficient sourcing of technology hardware, software, and services that support business operations and growth. This leader drives purchasing process optimization, enhances efficiency, eliminates bottlenecks, and ensures compliance with policies.

 

 

This is a full-time, on-site position requiring in-office presence Monday through Friday at our Austin office-Domain area.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day purchasing operations, including purchase orders, approvals, and documentation.
  • Streamline purchasing processes to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and remove operational bottlenecks.
  • Manage the Procure-to-Pay (P2P) process in collaboration with procurement, finance, and key stakeholders.
  • Review, update, and enforce purchasing policies, including spend thresholds, approval workflows, supplier usage, and payment terms.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, audits, and external regulations.
  • Maintain ethical standards and prevent conflicts of interest.
  • Oversee purchasing systems and tools, driving adoption of procurement automation and analytics platforms (e.g., Oracle, Zip, Ariba, etc…).
  • Develop and manage the purchasing department’s budget,  and productivity/performance reports.
  • Support internal and external audit processes related to purchasing.
  • Source equipment and services for facilities projects.
  • Support Optimize Travel Category spending; negotiate global agreements with strategic hotels and airlines.
  • Build a world-class culture by leading, mentoring, and developing a team of purchasing professionals, driving KPI achievement and innovation.

Qualifications

    • 5+ years of experience in purchasing, preferably with technology or software environments, including 3 years in a leadership role.
    • Proven experience in transformation, policy implementation, change management, and process optimization.
    • Experience in a mid-to-large technology company is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Strong negotiation and vendor management expertise.
    • Familiarity with SaaS, enterprise licensing, and cost management.
    • Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
    • Familiarity with procurement systems/ERP platforms (Oracle R12, Zip, etc.) is a plus.
    • Strong working knowledge of Travel systems (Concur, Navan, etc.).
    • Demonstrated track record of creating scale and impact in a dynamic environment.
    • Top-notch stakeholder management skills and an ability to assist with driving change in partnership with senior leaders from a variety of backgrounds.
    • Entrepreneurial mindset with exceptional energy, focus, and dedication to success.
