Windows Developer – Kernel/Device Drivers
Quest is looking for an experienced Windows developer who is both proficient with kernel/device driver development as well as user space development. You will be involved in architecture, design of, and own implementation for key areas within Quest’s Data Protection product portfolio. You will evaluate, design and implement solutions in one or more technical areas of the product such as: Clustering, File System layer, Networking, Algorithm Advancement and Integration, Performance, System Management, and Cloud related features. The successful candidate will become a key member of Quest’s engineering team and participate in the design and implementation of Quest’s next generation line of products.
To be successful you must be very technical (hands on) and have deep technical understanding of process and approaches. You will champion and leverage the latest software defined storage technical trends and technology and apply these technologies where they add value to Quest. You will ensure the architecture incorporates best in class technology with an eye towards embracing and leveraging cloud technology, scalability, performance, ease of use and a high level of quality. You will work in a fast-paced environment with an experienced and highly technical team of Quest engineers to solve a wide variety of unique and complex problems.
-Design and develop key features for Quest’s Windows-based backup and recovery products
-Create high-quality code with excellent performance characteristics
-Be a champion for Quest’s data protection product line
-Be an advocate for getting solid designs and implementations incorporated into the product
-Develop, support, and provide initial troubleshooting for internal and field issues
-Be the go-to person for resolving driver and kernel issues
-Requires strong coding, implementation, and design skills
-Expert knowledge and hands-on experience with Windows kernel/device driver development
-Thorough understanding of Windows API
-Strong C/C++ and C# programming skills
-Experience with Windows storage components/products such as VSS, backup, file system filter drivers, etc.
-Knowledge of hypervisors - preferably ESX or Hyper-V
-Expert with Microsoft Visual Studio
-Expert using Windows debugging tools
-Experience with development on Linux platforms and porting Linux code to Windows (nice to have)
-Thorough understanding and experience writing multi-threaded Windows code and inter-process communication in a Windows environment
-Thorough understanding of Windows internals, such as the I/O Manager, Cache Manager, etc.
-Worked on multiple products through the full product life cycle from product concept to product release
-Demonstrated track record of being a key contributor to successful products
-Excellent initiative and motivation. Ability to work independently and drive problems to a solution
-Minimum of 15 years of Windows software development experience
-BE in CS, ECE, or related field, MS/MTech preferred
