The primary responsibility of the Senior Software Sales Engineer is providing Pre-Sales technical consulting to promote primarily the Database Management solutions across North America, as well as the wider Information and Systems Management solutions. Individuals in this role should possess a real passion for databases, particularly Oracle, and database management technologies. You will participate in the sales process by showing how customers can use our database management solutions (Toad, SharePlex, erwin Data Modeler, and others) to more easily manage their database environments. Senior Sales Engineers play a crucial role in the team and work closely with Sales, Marketing and Product Management. You will serve as a technical software authority within the organization and with Quest's strategic customers.

 

Responsibilities

-Provides pre-sales technical support to promote Quest Software’s database management solutions via the telephone, remote technologies and onsite engagements

-Manages Proof-of-Concept engagements throughout the entire sales cycle

-Represents Quest Software’s Information and Systems Management solutions at relevant trade shows and user groups

-Contributes as an effective member of a sales team by attending sales calls and hosting technical sessions

-Provides influence and authoritative advice to internal and external audiences at the most senior levels

-Contributes to internal and external database related community media by delivering thought leadership content via trade show presentations, writing blog posts and generating white papers

- Contributes to completion of customers’ Requests for Information, Requests for Proposal

 -Builds external alliances with customers and industry experts to gain and share information and industry trends

-Relays customer feedback to assist with the future development of Quest Software's technology, products, and services

-Assumes leadership role in analyzing requirements and performing advanced systems integration and
providing technical expertise to design and implement solutions across the breadth of Quest Software and third-party products and services

Qualifications

-12+ years of related experience or combination of experience and education

-8+ years of presales experience required, particularly with strategic and global accounts

-8+ years of hands on database experience

-Knowledge of Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL and MySQL database systems, ranging from how to troubleshoot management problems as well as High Availability and Disaster Recovery concepts

-Knowledge and experience of managing databases in the Cloud, as well as Cloud Databases

-Travel required up to 50%.
